Newmans Camp

A 26 mile hike through Helena national forest in one day. Is it possible? No, that’s why we used horses. Luckily I had the day off and an extra horse was available. I was pretty excited to start, and slightly apprehensive because I had never ridden a horse before. My horses name was Mister. He was a little chunky, but very docile and well trained. I got on and I noticed he was throwing his head back, and backing his “ass” up. Somebody screamed, “Let go of the reigns!” Unknowingly I was tugging hard on the reins and causing Mister some pain, but I let go and that was really the worst of it. The rest of the trip was amazing. As you can see in the above pictures, the scenery was spectacular once again.

We ended our day at the Newman campgrounds, arriving just after 10:30 pm. We were horsebacking by moonlight for the last hour. I had a splendid time.
