Training Week
Training week was nonstop. Actually since I flew into Salt Lake itís been mostly nonstop. Iíve been involved with other groups before (through acting mostly) so I wasnít actually surprised by how fast the group hit it off. Everyone is so wonderful on both teams. Being one of the youngest members, it was extremely interesting to talk to everyone. They are all so experienced and have so many wonderful stories yet are modest about themselves, as well as having a great sense of humor.

We learned a little bit of everything during training week: how to use GPSís, how to ride ATVís, mountain bikes, how forest fires work, how to effectively deal with the media during the trek . . . etc. We also spent a couple of days working with two people from Outward Bound, an outdoor leadership school, on group dynamics and miscellaneous outdoor skills.

Needless to say, we all bonded tremendously. When Ravi had to leave early, we missed him immediately, even though we hadnít met just a few days before. We got so much outdoor gear to keep us comfortable on the trek, it was like Christmas in July!

Now seems like an appropriate time and place to thank everyone: all our teachers, our sponsors, anyone and everyone who helped us in the beginning or along the way. Weíve met a lot of truly wonderful people, and it is such people that make wonderful opportunities like this possible, and make wonderful opportunities like this happen.
Thank You Thank You ThankYou!!!
