Trekker Games
I feel like I am almost in a groove. We get up, travel, eat, sleep and then do it again. Yep, a definite routine.

Today was surprisingly nice. We had an 8.75-mile hike going on the border of public and private lands. This afternoon was the first time; I truly felt a separation between the two lands. Going over fences, hiking along barbed wire fences…

I can’t remember who told me this, but they said, “You should be aware that you are travelling on the last pieces of land that was purchased during the Louisiana Purchase.” I had never heard it in that respect before. I had to stop and think about that for a minute. We as Americans have this unique resource of public lands, where you can recreate anyway you chose. None of the Trekkers are professional at what they do, which, I think makes it more realistic of our goal. I was talking to Dana and I said simply “We are four ordinary people, who have set out to do something pretty extraordinary.”

On the lighter side of things, when we are here in camp, it’s like a big family. When the Trekkers come into camp, there are hugs and we all eat together like a big family. The four of us have been together for such a long time that we are always happy to see other faces. Since we returned from the Bob Marshall Wilderness, we (the Trekkers) have been playing practical jokes on the Support Team to lift their spirits. Rob placed dried cow patties around Ravi’s tent. He also made Dana sit in a broken seat. Good times.

We have also been sleeping out as much as we can. It is our goal to get all of the team sleeping under the stars before the trip ends.
