Day 20.
Today started another 5 days of consecutive horse pack trips, with each night meeting up with the support team for dinner. This means a lot of work for them as well as us and I’m thankful they are here. Today was about 12 miles, pretty easy compared to our last times out with horses. John and his son Scott are supplying the horses, and what beautiful horses they are! I got to ride a Bay horse named Clyde. He is a quarter horse, about 11 years old. Clyde was real comfortable to ride. The only complaint, if I had to have one, was he was a little slow when he walked. Otherwise the day was great. Kurt also came along with today. The weather has been really fantastic for a while. I can’t remember the last time it rained on us. We came across a dead cow with vultures and two black bears. They ran away immediately upon seeing us, and too soon for us to get any pictures. That’s a total of six bears that I’ve seen since the trek started. Three grizzlies, two black, and the other was too far away to determine for sure. Tomorrow is going to be a long 20-plus miles on a horse. Giddyup!
