 The Trek: The Journals

Wednesday, September 11
Glen Canyon Area
Since it rained most of the day it was a good time to chat with motorcycle riders huddled around the coffee shops. There were groups from Denmark, Sweden and England and they all claim that this was the best place they had ever ridden. Most of them were ridding Harley’s, which they rented, but a few actually shipped their own motorcycles over because they liked having their own custom equipment to ride. The most unique being the Swedish fellow with the BMW. It had everything from a custom mounted GPS unit to extra capacity aluminum saddlebags. The one question I could not answer which came from a Germany rider was “why does it rain so much in the desert?” I tried to explain to him that Lake Powell was down about 75 feet and that there was a 3 years drought but he still was not happy with the weather.
