Charlotte Talley hiking through Glacier National Park

Team North's trekkers and support team meet again today, and all get to enjoy some primo hiking from trailheads on the Going to the Sun Road. Glacier National Park maintains about 700 miles of hiking trails for the millions of visitors. Some trails are short nature walks, including one which is wheelchair-accessible. Other trails penetrate deep into the remote backcountry, climbing thousands of feet into the mountains.

The trekkers are hiking on the Piegan Pass trail and the Siyeh Pass trail, which pass some lovely cirque lakes, then skirt around the base of several large peaks, including Going to the Sun Mountain. The support team has not been idle during these days-- they have been hiking the nearby Highline Trail, and the short but delightful trail to Avalanche Lake, near their campground on Lake McDonald.
