Adventures Along the Mogollon Rim
For the next two days, Team South will be following one of those magical natural lines where one ecosystem transforms into another. At the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau, a huge wall named the Mogollon Rim drops hundreds of feet into the desert. A traveler can pass from a hot and sunny afternoon into the snowy shade of high ponderosa forests within hours.
This is also the area that was devastated a few weeks ago by the Rodeo-Chediski fire, one of the most destructive in Arizona history. The team will be traveling through the forest with a Forest Service guide, primarily on ATVs, but also on foot and by truck.
