Riding Through the Mountains of Montana

Team North, a group of extremely accomplished equestrians by now, is riding south again, this time on a three-day pack trip through the Helena National Forest and the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest of Montana.

Their route continues to follow the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, more or less, tracing the country's watershed point. This trail is far from being the only route of importance in the area. Other area trails have historic, rather than scenic import: there is the trail Lewis & Clark followed nearly 200 years ago to cross the country; the trail gold seekers followed up the Bighorn Basin to Bozeman; and the trail Chief Joseph's band of Nez Perce followed when they were being pursued by the US Army for refusing to move onto their designated reservation. And of course, Team North is blazing their own historic trail! Go team!
