West into Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park
Team North crosses into a new state today-- Wyoming-- and will climb up on the Madison Plateau and into Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is the first national park in the United States, and remains one of the crown jewels.
Although the park sees around 4 million visitors a year, Team North may not run into a single one, as they backpack from a trailhead in the Targhee National Forest into the park and up to their campsite at Summit Lake. The scenery they'll enjoy today includes deep ponderosa pine forests, bubbling mountain creeks, groves of shimmering aspens, and wildflower-dotted meadows where deer and elk graze.
